Mother makes emotional plea for new drink driving legislation to be passed
The mother of a four year old killed by a drink driver calls for new legislation on alcohol limits and driving bans to be passed.
Gillian Treacy's son Ciaran was killed in Portarlington three years ago, when the car he was a passenger in was struck by a driver who had been drinking.
Transport Minister, Shane Ross, says the Road Traffic Bill 2017 has been held up at committee stage for three months and he believes some TDs are bowing to pressure from publicans.
He said comments from Kerry TD Danny Healy Rae that a big meal was as dangerous as drink driving were absurd.
