Mother of anorexic girl protests outside HSE offices

The mother of a critically ill anorexic girl, who she says needs to be transferred to a specialised unit in the UK, has mounted a peaceful protest outside the HSE offices today. Sharon Hegarty's teenage daughter is being medically stablised at Cork University Hospital where she is being tube fed as she has been refusing solid food for weeks. Her mum has been appealing for her 17 year old daughter to be transferred to the unit for nearly two months - and has now taken her case directly to the HSE offices in Bishopstown. Speaking to RedFM News Sharon says she's asking the public to sign a petition calling on the HSE to re-apply for funding so her daughter can receive the life saving treatment abroad that she needs.
