Mothers allegedly gave consent for drug trials at Bessborough

A Former Mother Superior at Bessborough mother and baby home in Blackrock says that all mothers gave permission for experimental drug trials to be conducted on their babies. Sister Sarto insists that the drug trials could not be done without the mothers consent. The news comes after a former resident the home has spoken out about experimental drug trials that were conducted on him.. It's been revealed that the drug trials were conducted at 11 mother and baby homes across the country during the 1960's and 70's Mothers who lost babies at the Bessborough home in Blackrock have called for a dig to be conducted at the graveyard as part of any Government inquiry Mother Superior Sister Sarto told Red Fm news that the trials were conducted by doctors.
