Moves to allay fears over events centre Leeside

Concerns have been expressed in recent months over the delay in the project.

The Lord Mayor has moved to allay fears that work on Cork's new events centre is being delayed.

It was hoped that construction would begin by the end of last year after Defence Minister Simon Coveney confirmed that issues relating to the private sector financing of the project had been resolved.

RedFM News has learned that city officials are now working towards securing a start date for the €50 million facility.

Speaking to Cork's RedFM Lord Mayor Cllr Chirs O'Leary says contrary to some beliefs progress has been made on the site and he expects a start to be announced within weeks.
