Multi - Agency discussion on mental awareness in City Hall today

New approaches to mental health awareness in schools were among a number of topics discussed at a multi-agency suicide forum in City Hall today.
The initiative was set up following a spike in suicides in Cork in the past month where 16 people took their own lives.
A petition set up by Cork man Daragh Fleming to incorporate mental health classes in secondary schools has received over 5,000 signatures and the Lord Mayor has pledged to present it to the Minister for Health when he meets him in the coming weeks.
Speaking to RedFM News Lord Mayor Cllr Des Cahill says as well as bringing about a change in schools, understanding the reason behind suicide figures in Cork was also top of the agenda this morning:
