Mum of boy killed in estate fears lower speed limits will be ineffective

The bereaved mother of a six-year-old boy who was knocked down and killed in his housing estate fears a new law to lower speed limits will be ineffective in up to half of housing estates in Ireland.
Roseann Brennan is to meet with the Transport Minister next week ahead of his plans to bring a new bill to Committee Stage to create a special speed limit of 20km/an hour in built up areas.
The Kilkenny mother, whose son Jake died in her arms in 2014, after being knocked down while playing in their housing estate, says this will only be implemented by local authorities who will not be able to oversee private housing estates.
Her campaign Jake's Legacy led to five housing Estates in North Cork introducing lower limits on a pilot basis.
Speaking to RedFM News Roseann says while she welcomes any move to lower speed limits, loopholes need to be addressed to prevent any more parents living her reality:
