Nationwide crackdown on crime launched

The operation will be targeting criminal gangs and burglars.
A nationwide crackdown on crime targeting the worst offenders in the State will be launched today.
Six criminal gangs - including ones based in Cork - and more than 200 habitual burglars have been identified by Gardai for the operation.
Recent figures show an increase in the number of burglaries in Cork from 317 in July to Sepetmeber of 2014 in comparion to 368 to the same period this year.
