New Campaign Aimed At Tackling Housing And Homeless Crisis Will Be Launched In Cork Later

Unite Community Cobh say they want to put pressure on the Council and government to meet the housing needs of people who are homeless or struggling to pay rent.
The meeting comes as new figures from the Department of Housing show there were 10,275 people living in emergency accommodation in Ireland in July, including 890 men, women and children in Cork and Kerry.
Speakers at the event include Fr Peter McVerry from the McVerry Trust and Catriona Twomey from Cork Penny Dinners.
Speaking to RedFM News, branch secretary of Unite Community Karen Doyle outlines why she organised tonights meeting.
The meeting will be held at the Great Island Community Centre in Cobh at 7pm
