New deal between Secondary School teachers and Government to be balloted in January
Lack of equal pay for new entrant teachers remains a major concern for ASTI members and has yet to be resolved
The ASTI says it has "considerable outstanding concerns" in its dispute with the Government.
The union's Central Executive Council decided yesterday to recommend that members reject a pay proposal when its put to a ballot in January.
The deal includes a gradual pay increase for newly qualified teachers and a provision to opt-out of supervision and substitution duties.
Kieran Christie, General Secretary, of the ASTI explains why they're still unhappy.
