New prison in Cork set to open next month
A number of new changes are being introduced at the new facility.
The highly controversial practice of "slopping out" will be no more in Cork in just a matter of weeks.
It's just one of a number of new changes being introduced in Ireland's newest prison which has been built on the Northside of the city.
The new facility will also offer prisoner's and their families a unique visiting system and encourage good behaviour with a new tiered visitor system being piloted in Cork next month when the €40 million facility opens.
RedFM 's Fiona O'Donovan toured the facility this morning and has this special report for RedFM News.
