New Report Describes Current Direct Provision System As Flawed And In Need Of Fundamental Reform
The report by the Oireachtas Committee on Justice and Equality makes 43 recommendations in total
It calls for a move away from a reliance on commercial for-profit running of direct provision services and also suggests the nine-month waiting time for asylum seekers to be able to work should be reduced or removed.
Speaking to RedFM News Joe Moore of Anti-deportation Ireland says that removing the threat of deportation entirely would solve the problem of direct provision;
