New secondary school confirmed for East Cork
A new secondary school for the Midleton/Carrigtohill area has been confirmed. The facility will cater for 1,000 students and will be run by the local Education and Training Board with the involvement of the Catholic Bishop of Cloyne. The Department of Education is understood to be contacting the relevant parties in the coming weeks. It follows a demand by parents and teachers due to significant population growth in the area in recent years. The new school is expected to be up and running by 2015 or 2016.
