New service sees over 100 families saved from homelessness

Rent rises remain the biggest obstacle in the battle against homelessness

107 families have been prevented from becoming homeless in Cork City so far this year.

The Tenancy Protection Service which was set up in January in a bid to curb the amount of families becoming homeless say they've received 197 calls to date.

Of these cases 170 households are currently at risk of homelessness but the service says for the moment they have been able to protect them.

Speaking to RedFM News Regina Baylor of the Tenancy Protection Service says that rent increases are the biggest problems they're encountering at the moment
