New speed limits in housing estates across the county
They will come into effect at the end of the month.
Reduced speed limits are to be introduced in 39 housing estates across Cork by the end of the month.
Six Carrigaline estates are among those where the 30 km/hr speed limit signs will be installed as part of a pilot programme, and if successful Cork County Council is expected to expand the initiative.
It follows the tireless campaign of a Kilkenny mother to get speed limits in housing estates lowered after her six-year-old son Jake was knocked down and killed last June while playing outside their home.
Transport Minister Paschal Donohue is now being called on to make reduced speed limits mandatory in all estates across Ireland.
Roseann Brennan's other son started school this September and she has been telling RedFM News that she wants speed limits reduced so no other parent will have to endure the pain she's still experiencing.
