New test which helps detect preeclampsia linked with Cork firm

A new test which helps detect preeclampsia in pregnant women could soon be on the market thanks to a Cork biotech firm. Academics at the Mayo Clinic, in the USA say a simple urine sample can tell if a mum-to-be will develop the condition that claims more lives during pregnancy than any other disease. Irish firm 'Inform Bioscience' has been given a 50-thousand euro European grant to see how accurate the American research is - and how quickly it could be made available to the general public. Bioscience's Executive Director, Diarmuid Cahalane says the test could increase help for those who really need it. Click the PLAY button to hear.
