No evidence to show Organised Islamophobia on increase Leeside

Gardai in Cork say there is no increase in racism or organised Islamopobia following an attack of a Muslim Cleric in the city last week.

Imam Ahmed was knocked over on Cathedral Rd on the northside of the city last Wednesday evening.

The Guards will be carrying out extra patrols around the mosques on Shandon and Blarney street , but say the attack was carried out by individuals rather than an organised group.

Members of the Cork ecumenical secretaries from the Catholic Church, Church of Ireland, Methodist Church and Presbyterian church met with the Muslim Foundation to show their solidary with the community.

Speaking to RedFM News Parish Priest of Frankfield Fr Christy Fitzgerald attended the meeting and says a message must be sent to those who carried out the attack:
