No rise in city centre burglaries despite Christmas break-ins

Gardaí say there has been no rise in burglaries in the city centre, that's despite a number of high-profile break-ins where city centre businesses were targeted over Christmas. Up to €10,000 was taken from Dealz at the Queens Old Castle on the Grand Parade and Pinocchio's Toy Shop on Paul Street was also robbed ahead of Christmas. Gardaí are also investigating a robbery at the Half Door Cafe on French Chruch Street on New Year Eve's night which was badly damaged in the break-in. However the latest garda figures show that the number of burglaries reported in December 2014 in the Anglesea Street garda district was the same compared to December 2013. Gardaí are still urging people to step up their security measures and report any suspicious activity.
