North Cork school badly damaged after overnight blaze

The alarm was raised at 3.20am when smoke was seen billowing from the Patrician Academy on Fair Street in Mallow.
A school in North Cork has been badly damaged after an overnight fire.
The alarm was raised at 3.20am when smoke was seen billowing from the Patrician Academy on Fair Street in Mallow.
Five units of the Cork City and County Fire service responded to the scene and brought the fire under control and stopped it from spreading further.

Three units of the fire brigade remain at the scene.
It's understood no one was in the building at the time.

Gardaí are also in attendance and local traffic diversions are in place on Friar Street.
