Number of people waiting on trolleys at Cork University Hospital halved since May

It comes following the implementation of a new system Project Flow for processing patients

The aim is to provide patients over 75 years with a bed within 9 hours of admission with no patient spending more than 18 hours in A&E.

Today's Irish Examiner reports the number of patients waiting on trolleys at 8am has reduced by 50% since it's introduction - a more successful outcome than the initial aim of 30%.

The wait time in A&E has also reduced in recent months with 90% of patients now receiving assessment treatment and being discharged in six hours.
