Opposition to Mayoral trip to US expected at City council meeting

The Lord Mayor of Cork is expecting some opposition to his White House visit at a Council Meeting this evening.
Cllr Des Cahill will be the first Lord Mayor of Cork to attend the ceremonial handing over of a bowl of shamrock to President Donald Trump by the Taoiseach.
Enda Kenny has come under pressure to cancel his visit to the White House, given some of President Trump's policies - particularly those surrounding undocumented Irish and immigration.
The invitation will be brought to the attention of councillors at tonights meeting in City Hall, and it's expected the Lord Mayor may face similar objections to the 48 hour visit by city councillors.
Speaking to RedFM News Lord Mayor of Cork Des Cahill Says the invite is a huge honour for the city, and he feels it is only right he attend:
