OPW determined Flood Relief Work will be started within projected timeline
The Office of Public Works says it's determined to remain within the projected timelines for Cork's flood relief plan.
It's hoped that the second phase of the flood project at Morrison's Island will begin in the second half of this year.
The flood relief scheme has come in for criticism by the Save Cork City group, who have objected to plans for defensive walls along the city's quays.
They say construction of these walls will damage the historic fabric of the city.
However speaking to RedFM News Minister for the OPW Sean Canney says the plans are compatible with Cork's distinctive character:
