OPW responds to claims made by Savecorkcity Group
The Office of Public Works has issued a response to claims made by the Savecorkcity group on the proposals for the Lower Lee Flood Relief scheme.
The scheme is currently at Public Exhibition Stage and the group are calling on the public to persuade the OPW to change its mind on the construction of flood defence walls on the quays in the city claiming it will damage the existing historic fabric of Cork..
However the OPW say they and the City Council are very aware of the need to ensure the design of the scheme is sympathetic to the cultural and heritage aspects of the city
