Otters In Blackpool Village Seem To Have Greater Protection Than Business Owners And Residents

That's according to Blackpool business man Jer Buckley who says he fears the next large flood could cause millions of euro worth of damage to the area.

Flooding in many parts of the city on Monday night has led to calls for Blackpool's stalled flood relief scheme to be implemented as a matter of urgency to avoid a repeat of the devastating floods which struck Blackpool in March 2013.

A €16.4 million flood defense scheme for the old village was delayed after a number of objections highlighted the presence of urban otters in the River Bride.
