Over 100 trees were reported to have fallen on roads across the county, and teams have been working overnight to clear debris on a number of routes.

The Council say much of the damage caused by yesterday's storm will still be visible for the next 24 to 48 hours and they are appealing to motorists to allow extra travel time in order to reach their destination safely.

Speaking to RedFM News Chief Executive with the County Council Tim Lucey says cleanup exercises and repairs will begin in areas that  worst affected:
