Over 70 people diagnosed with Cancer in Cork every week
73 people in Cork are diagnosed with Cancer every week. The figures have been revealed by the Irish Cancer Society who say that cancer rates have increased by 4 per cent over the last three years. Two major fundraising drives are taking place Leeside this week to raise vital funds for the Irish Cancer Society. Daffodil Day will be launched this Friday with a fundraising target of €3.5 million set for Cork, elsewhere over 1,000 walkers and runners will take part in this year's Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk on Sunday. Treasurer of the Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk Maria O'Mahony says when she was diagnosed with breast cancer her whole world was turned upside down but the support systems in place helped her through. She told Red FM News that backing these support systems with fundraising drives can make all the difference for individuals battling the disease. Click PLAY button to hear.
