Pedestrian Knocked Down In Cobh

Gardaí in Cobh are investigating a serious road traffic accident which occurred this morning. A female pedestrian was out walking when she was struck by a vehicle which failed to stop. The incident happened on Ballynoe Hill, in Cobh close to the junction of Ballynoe hill and the Tay Road. The 52-year-old was taken to Cork University hospital where her condition is described as serious. The road was closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision examination but it has since re-opened. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have been on that road between 8am and 8.45am to contact them.
