Pfizer and Allergan merge in record deal

The pharmaceutical giant employs 800 people Leeside.

Two healthcare companies have struck a deal that will create the world's largest drug maker.

Pfizer, who has offices in Cork, is to buy Allergan in a multi-billion dollar deal that is the biggest on record in the healthcare sector. 

Experts think the new company - which will be known as Pfizer - will move its headquarters from the United States to Ireland to enjoy a lower rate of corporation tax.
