Planning Permission For Cork Harbour Incinerator Deferred For Fifth Time

A group opposed to a proposed incinerator in Cork Harbour say residents are being "held hostage" by An Bord Pleanala.

Cork Harbour for a Safe Environment made the comments as the decision on planning permission for the €160 million facility has been deferred for a fifth time.

 

The project was first proposed by waste management company Indaver 16 years ago, and this is the third time the company have put forward a proposal to operate an incinerator in Cork Harbour.

 

No reason has been given for this latest delay and CHASE say it is impossible to speculate as to the reason why the decision has been pushed back to the 12th of September.

 

Speaking to RedFM News CHASE Spokesperson Linda Fitzpatrick says the Harbour has changed dramatically since Indaver made the first application 16 years ago, and this must be taken into account:
