Plans for incinerator next to Spike Island described as ludicrous
Plans to locate a proposed incinerator next to one of Europe's leading tourist attractions has been described as 'ludicrous'.
That's according to the Cork Harbour for A Safe Environment who say having the proposed facility next to the award winning Spike Island is simply poor planning.
Spike Island was nominated at the World Travel Awards as one of the top ten sights to visit in Europe.
CHASE says the landscape of the harbour has changed completely since waste management company Indavar first applied for planning for the €160 million euro facility near Ringaskiddy in 2001.
Speaking to RedFM News CHASE Spokesperson Linda Fitzpatrick says An Bord Pleanala must take into account the changes in the lower harbour over the past 16 years before considering planning permission:
