Plans To Pedestrianise Kinsale's Main Street Proposed
The proposal would see Pearse Street pedestrianised in order to create an outdoor space for recreational purposes
The proposal, put forward by Minister for Mental Health and Older People Jim Daly, would see Pearse Street pedestrianised in order to create an outdoor space for recreational purposes
Minister Daly believes the move would help to create a central hub in the tourist town where people can socialise and street entertainment can be hosted
He's also suggested that a portion of the open space would be covered so markets and social functions can be planned and held regardless of the weather
The Minister is confident that any concerns raised by traders can be easily resolved and he confirmed that a further meeting is planned with stakeholders in the town in the coming weeks to formally progress the idea with Cork County Council
