President Rows In Behind Members Of The Defence Forces On Their Calls For Pay Rises

PDForra has been highlighting their poor levels of pay and seeking urgent Government action on the matter

Yesterday President Michael D Higgins said that it's not too much to expect that serving men and women should have an income and prospects to provide for them and their families.

His remarks have been broadly welcomed by PDForra the association which represents members of the defence forces says because the Government hasn't tackled the  the recruitment and retention crisis naval service figures are at their lowest level in almost a decade

The Government has moved to address the take-home earnings of Defence Forces members but PDForra say it's not enough to stem the flow of members choosing to take up better paid work in the private sector

PDForra's Mark Keane told RedFM News that he's hopeful that the President's words will resonate with the Government
