Pressure mounting on the Government to take immediate action on the homeless crisis.

A 24 hour protest march is taking place by the Housing Action Group outside the Dail tomorrow .

The group are calling for the Government to declare it a National Emergency.

Recent figures show over 10,000 people with Ireland are homeless or living in emergency accommodation with over 3000 of those being children.

The group have held five protests here in Cork and have today written to the Lord Mayor of Cork calling on him to take action and declare it a housing emergency.

Tomrrows protest outuside Leinster house gets underway at 11am with an appeal for all members of the Dáil and Seanad  to attend at 1pm and express their support.

Speaking to RedFM News, Diarmaid O'Cadhla of the Housing Action Group says the problem is getting worse.
