Progress Made On Rockfall At Skellig Michael

Good progress has been made in dealing with the recent rockfall at Skellig Michael off the County Kerry Coast.
The famous World Heritage Site went viral earlier this month when it featured in the trailer for the next Star Wars movie The Last Jedi.
The Office of Public Works say a specialist safety access team visited the island last week and surveyed the slopes concerned, dealing with all areas where there was a suspicion of loose material.
OPW staff are now working on a list of specific tasks including the removal of approximately 30 tons of rockfall material from the Lighthouse Road, and the replacement of one of the Guide accommodation huts.
