Proposals To Pedestrianise Patrick Street Welcomed by Cork Chamber
Chamber says it's a great opportunity to manage traffic and encourage people to visit the city centre
Plans to take cars out of the city centre will be matched by improved public transport.
That's according to the President of Cork Chamber who says that the proposal to pedestrianise Patrick St is a great opportunity to manage traffic and encourage people to visit the city centre.
It follows comments from the Cork Business Association who have raised concerns about the implementation of the plan which it's hoped will be in place by the end of 2017.
Meanwhile Middle Parish residents have voiced their opposition to the traffic plan which they say will result in cars being re-directed towards Grattan Street which will lead to conjestion along with noise and air pollution.
Speaking to RedFM News President of Cork Chamber Barrie O'Connell says while there is more to do, improving public transport Leeside is high on the agenda:
