A protest against plans to develop a Liquified Natural Gas terminal in Cork is being staged outside City Hall this lunchtime 

The Port of Cork signed a memorandum of understanding with an American company to negotiate the construction of an LNG terminal and floating regasification unit in Cork Harbour in 2017. 

The protest, which is being organised by Not Here Not Anywhere, Extinction Rebellion and school climate strikers Friday's For Future follows a meeting at which Port of Cork were handed a petition signed by over 3,000 people including 44 Irish and international groups.
