Protest to be held outside City Hall over bin charges plans
The Government's announced plans for a new watchdog on bin charges - ahead of a Dáil debate on setting up a regulator.
TDs will tonight debate a motion from Fianna Fáil, who want a regulator set up to oversee the imposition of new waste charges.
Leo Varadkar told TDs that a watchdog would do so, and the government could still step in to regulate charges if it wants.
But Sinn Féin says the charges should be scrapped until extra concessions are agreed.
A protest is being planned outside City Hall next Monday at 5 o'clock in protest at the plans for waste charges.
Speaking to RedFM News Sinn Féin Councillor for Cork North West Mick Nugent says this isn't the only protest that will be organised if the government plough ahead with the plans:
