Public called on to support "Stand up for Ava" Initiative
A Cork mother fighting for medicinal cannabis legislation for her daughter is set to escalate her campaign.
Vera Twomey mounted a protest walk from Cork to the Dáil after her application for medicinal cannabis for seven-year-old Ava was rejected on the grounds that a pediatric neurologist didn't sign off on it.
The Aghabullogue mother is calling on people to support a new 'Stand Up For Ava' initaitive whereby people gather together outside a local amenity in their area and send the picture to Simon Harris and post it on 'Ava's Hope' Facebook Page.
Vera has covered over 140km of her protest walk so far and is currently in Tipperary and says she won't back down until she gets a practical response from the Department of Health.
Speaking to RedFM News she says the government has put her in a catch 22 situation:
