RedFM News Has Learned That Legal Advice Is Being Sought In Relation To The Tank Field Site

A protest was mounted last month after contractors arrived on the site
It's been confirmed to RedFM News that legal advice has been sought in relation to the contentious issue of the Tank Field site on the north side of the city.
A protest by locals was mounted last month after contractors arrived on the site and began digging up a section of the field to accommodate a sporting pitch.
Cork City Council say the works were initiated in advance of the Department of Education beginning its work on the new school being built next to the Tank Field.
However locals say they cannot understand how a sporting pitch is being built on a site in the first place as it has been zoned as a public open area under the Cork City Development Plan 2015-2021.
Speaking to RedFM News Lord Mayor Cllr Mick Finn says while he understands locals are fearful they'll lose the Tank Field site as a public open space the City Council is engaging in a legal process:
