Rehab Defends Salaries Paid To Their Directors

Rehab has moved to defend the level of salaries paid to their directors as they launch a public campaign for support amid crisis talks on funding

The disability organisation says it needs an additional €2 million to keep the six services it provides to the 200 people in Cork who rely on the charity in place

RehabCare says for many people using their residential services it has become their home and the people using their day services in Bantry heavily rely on the disability organisation in their day to day lives

Rehab says it had to go public after years of talks with the HSE on the funding issues and say they have arrived at a situation where their reserves have run down so much that they will run out of money unless they get more funding

The charity has 12 senior staff on salaries of more than €100,000.

Speaking to RedM News spokesperson for the group Kathleen O'Meara says a raft of cost cutting measures have already been introduced over the last number of years and she believes that cutting those salaries would not resolve the funding shortfall
