Relief For Homeowners In Flood Risk Areas
Homeowners in flood risk areas will pay a reduced property tax. Hundreds of homeowners in areas such as Clonakilty, Blackpool, Glanmire and Douglas will be relieved at the news that they will pay less property tax. The amount to be paid will be self-assessed and will be based on the value of the property. But revenue commissioners are taking account of the fact that flood damaged properties now have a reduced market value. From next month, people will be receiving information booklets explaing how to file a property tax return.
