Repair Crews Race Against Clock As Storm Brian On The Way

Repair crews are racing against the clock to restore power and water supplies as Storm Brian looms

Thousands were knocked off the grid by hurricane force winds on Monday which left three people dead.

The ESB has confirmed to RedFM News that 56,000 remain without power across Cork this lunchtime while earlier Irish Water said 69,000 were without a water supply.

Eir has just confirmed that over 31,000 customers are without broadband, telephone and mobile services in Cork at the moment as the re-connection operation continues.

The majority of schools re-opened earlier for the first time in two days but some remain closed across Cork due to power and water outages.

A Yellow Weather warning remains in operation with Storm Brian tracking towards Ireland and due to hit on Friday.

Speaking to RedFM News Denis Cambridge says they're anxious to get the repairs completed ahead of that storm.
