Report shows domestic abuse victims failed by justice system

Victims of domestic violence are being treated by the Irish Justice System as a nuisance rather than a crime. That's according to SAFE Ireland which has looked at the experiences of 13 women, and found allegations of domestic violence were not fully investigated, and breaches of safety and barring orders were not punished. None of the men responsible for violence against the 13 women were ever prosecuted for their crimes. The report says the legal system is failing women and makes 34 recommendations to improve it. Ruth is a mother of three from Dublin whose partner of 10 years was continuously violent to her in front of their children, but he was never charged. Click the PLAY button above to hear.
