Rescue 116 Black Box Analysis Shows Helicopter Pitched Up Rapidly In Final Seconds

An initial report into last month's Coast Guard helicopter crash off Mayo says it 'pitched up rapidly' in its final seconds.

The Air Accident Investigation Unit has been analysing data from the blackbox recorder of the flight on which four Coast Guard crew died.

It's found the aircraft's warning system did NOT have data related to Blackrock island.

The preliminary report also recommends there should be a review of route guides in use by search and rescue helicopters in Ireland  following confirmation that the aircraft warning system did NOT have data related to Blackrock Island, where the helicopter crashed.
