Residents Fear Noise Level Will Be Intolerable If M28 Gets Green Light

Residents who live alongside the proposed €180 million Cork – Ringaskiddy motorway say noise levels will be intolerable if it is given the green light.
They made the comments this afternoon at An Bord Pleanala’s oral hearing into the proposed motorway where they raised concerns about the increase in noise from HGV traffic travelling to and from Ringaskiddy.
It follows a report by Cork County Council which said locals would benefit from a reduction in noise levels if the project is permitted.
The engineers said “low-noise surfaces” will be put on the motorway, Rochestown Rd, Maryborough Hill, and a number of other local roads which feed into the new motorway scheme.
However Speaking to RedFM News M28 steering group’s Francis Murphy says it is difficult to understand how the noise levels will be reduced:
