Residents in Mayfield shocked by pipe bomb attack
Three children were sleeping in a house in Mayfield when a pipe bomb was thrown at it in the early hours of Friday morning.
The device was thrown at the house on Shannon Lawn and 15 houses in the estate were evacuated.
The Army Bomb disposal removed the bomb to Collin's Barracks where it was made safe.
Evidence was preserved to assist the Gardai with their investigation.
Residents were re- admitted to their homes at 7am but were left shocked by the incident.
