Residents Living Near The Former St Kevin's Hospital Say Consultation Is Vital In Any Redevelopment Plans
St Kevin's has been lying idol for almost two decades
St Kevin's hospital, which is situated on the grounds of the former Our Lady’s Mental Hospital in Shanakiel, has been lying idol for almost two decades and was partially gutted in a suspected arson attack almost two years ago.
Millions have been spent on security at the site to prevent anti-social behaviour while calls have also been made for its regeneration in the midst of the current housing crisis.
It's understood proposals for the site have been discussed with the Government’s Land Development Agency and will be presented in the Autumn.
Speaking to RedFM News this local resident says if the plans are to generate more housing it would be welcome, but current homeowners should also be taken into account:
