Residents On The Northside Of Cork City Take Their Fight To Clean Up Their Area To Europe
The move follows a protest by locals living in the area of Ellis's Yard last month
Locals living near Ellis's Yard say they are frustrated by the length of time it is taking the Council to clean up the site.
City Hall says it is working on a plan for the site which will include securing it with new fencing and CCTV....
Over €570,000 has been spent on cleaning the site between 2003 and 2014, however the area continues to be affected by illegal dumping.
MEP Luke 'Ming' Flanagan has written to the European Commission to ask if delays to the clean-up of the illegal dump amounts to a breach of environmental and public safety standards.
