Road infrastructure and re-deployment opportunities deciding factors in Cork Mail Centre closure
The centre is due to close on a phased basis between now and March 2020 and is being discussed at an Oireachtas Communication's Committee this afternoon.
An Post Chief Executive David McRedmond told TDs and Senators that the company's restructuring plans which includes the closure of Cork Mail Centre will save An Post €11 million.
Addressing the Committe David McRedmond says Cork's good road infrastructure and redeployment opportunities due to the thriving Cork economy were among the factors in the decision to close the mail centre:
