Road users in Cork warned ahead of weather alert

Met Éireann have issued an orange weather warning for the region.

Motorists in Cork are being asked to slow down and drive with extra care this evening as heavy rain is forecast. 

It comes as Met Éireann have issued a code level orange weather warning for the region and up to 75mm of rain is forecast. 

Cork City Council has issued a warning to householders and businesses as heavy rain falls will occur overnight tonight and during Friday. 

Motorists are also being advised that spot flooding could lead to poor conditions for driving while pedestirans and cyclists are being reminded to wear bright or reflective clothing to increase their visbility on the roads. 

The warning is in effect from midnight tonight until midnight on Friday.
