Road Users Urged To Use Extreme Caution This Morning
Torrential rain has caused spot flooding and excess surface water on almost all routes.
The road is impassable to Ardcahan outside Macroom.
The Bandon to Macroom Road is impassable near Duke's Wood.
There is also flooding on the N71 on the Innishannon side of Bandon.
Care is also needed between Skibbereen and Leap due to a fallen tree and there is another tree down on the R572 outside Castletownbere.
The AA is appealing to motorists to reduce speed and keep back from the vehicle in front as roads are wet this morning.
Director of Consumer Affairs at the AA Conor Faughnan says it's expected to be a busy day on Ireland’s motorways:
"Traffic has been very busy in the towns in the shopping areas. We haven't really seen huge numbers of people take to the inter-urban roads yet, we're probably likely to see that today, and to a lesser extent tomorrow so if you are out and about, if you are on the motorways- pretty dangerous day for them today."
